Sign-up for HGS Virtual School and HGS email accounts

About ITS Registration

Here (see the video and form link, both of which appear below) one will complete a form, where one will

  • list one's full legal name plus,
  • indicate the HGS courses one will take during the 2025 spring ssemester, and
  • enter a formula based username and requested password.
The information supplied will be used by the Governor's School's Information Technology Services (ITS) to create a HGS Virtual School account, with student's classes listed within the account, maintain the Virtual School account, and create any other required HGS hosted accounts.

Please watch the video below, which briefly walks through the information one must enter into the ITS Registration form. When completing the form, carefully read the requirements for username and password, making sure the entry meets the Governor's School's requirements. (NO PERSONAL INFORMATION nor any characters that look like personal information - initials, name, nickname, ID number, school name, birth date, phone number, etc. - can be a part of the requested password.) Should the username already be in use by another student, there will be no indication of the problem as/when the form is completed. Therefore, if a username is already in use the Governor's School will notify the student, using the email address the student listed on the ITS registration form, of the correct username the student should use.

Should one enter an unacceptable password, the student will not have access to their HGS account(s). Therefore, if five or more business days have passed since a student has completed the ITS registration form and they have no virtual school account access, the student will need to visit ITS Technical Support and complete a ITS Help Desk Ticket (i.e., (Using ITS Technical Support and Help Desk Tickets are covered as a part of the HGS Plus orientation tasks.) >Get Help). Please allow a minimum of one business day for a reply. The student may also be contacted, via email, using the email address the student supplied on the ITS registration form.

After completing the ITS Registration form correctly (e.g., acceptable password), please allow a minimum of seven (7) business days for an HGS Virtual School account to be active. HGS no longer issues student email accounts. Students are required to use their home school email address for instructor/school communication.

ITS Registration Form Instructions

Please watch the registration form orientation video below. Please Note: The video illustrates completion of the registration form for fall semester 2020 start classes. The form completion procedure for spring semester 2025 orientation is identical to that shown in the video with the exception that passwords are now required to be a minimum of ten (10) characters and a maximum of sixteen (16) characters and students are now required to enter their home high school assigned email address.

ITS strongly recommends that each student prints the completed form prior to clicking on the form's submit button. How to print the form and why one would need to do so are covered in the video above. (There is now a print button one may use, which also submits the form automatically.)

WARNING

  • Incorrectly completing the form - using any personal information as the password or part thereof, etc. - will result in the student having no HGS accounts.
  • Complete/Submit the ITS Registration form ONLY ONE TIME. Multiple submissions will lead to a delay in creation of account.
  • Accounts are not created at time of form completion. Allow a minimum of seven (7) business days after form completion for Virtual School accounts to be active.
The HGS Twitter account feed (see task Step Six: HGS Plus) will be used to update students on account activation status. If a form entry error is made and/or addition required, contact HGS ITS support by using the Help Desk Ticket (see HGS Plus). Please do not complete the ITS Registration form a second time. Also, please remember to allow at least seven (7) business days after form completion for HGS Virtual School account activation.
